Andre Bertel Shihan videos teaching in Germany 2012

Here are videos of our international instructor, Andre Bertel Shihan (6th Dan) teaching karate seminars in North Germany. Andre Shihan arrived back in New Zealand today and already returned to the dojo to practice, even with strong jetlag. Isn't that typical of him. He is truly an inspirational karateka and a treasure of our chief instructor Syuseki-Shihan Tetsuhiko Asai, who considered him like a son and trained him as his apprentice. Please enjoy these videos. Apparently there are more to come. Oss, Lyall.

Jitte Kata

Instructors class was spent on Jitte or Jutte kata which means 10 hands. Master Asai taught us that Jitte is among the seven main Shotokan karate kata.

_________

The best example of Jitte is Imura Takenori Sensei. He was many times JKA champion with this kata. You can now find his performance online. The best is on Nakayama Sensei's videos (which are now on the you-tube).

More than movements is to understand the application. Andre Shihan and I always practice these, as taught by Asai Syuseki-shihan to us, in the JKA days.
